Infection Prevention and Control for Aboriginal Substance Misuse Service

Infection Prevention and Control for Aboriginal Substance Misuse Service

$100.00 CAD

Accreditation Canada's Infection Prevention and Control Standards are based on updated research and best practices in the field, as well as standards from the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), and the Community and Hospital Infection Control Association-Canada (CHICA-Canada). Accreditation Canada extends its appreciation to these organizations for their support and contributions.

The Infection Prevention and Control Standards for Aboriginal Substance Misuse Services assess organizational compliance against standards of excellence and Required Organizational Practices (ROPs). They are designed to address issues of infection prevention and control specific to addictions treatment centres and  include the client perspective. Front-line staff and service providers who often carry primary responsibility for preventing and controlling infections will find these standards particularly valuable.

The standards are divided into four sections:

  • Investing in infection prevention and control
  • Keeping people safe from infections
  • Providing a safe and suitable environment
  • Being prepared for infections and outbreaks

The term outbreaks includes both localized outbreaks and widespread outbreaks that may be classified by public health authorities as epidemics or pandemics.
