Maternal/Child Populations
Accreditation Canada's standards for maternal/child populations are for organizations with regional programs to organize and coordinate services to meet the needs of the maternal/child populations they serve.
Accreditation Canada's maternal/child population standards focus on:
- Healthy living
- Health promotion and disease prevention
- Identification of at-risk client groups and early interventions for those at risk
- Integration and coordination of services across the system, including social services and community organizations
These standards contain the following sections:
- Investing in services for maternal/child populations
- Partnering with the community to promote health and wellness
- Integrating and coordinating health services for maternal/child populations across the continuum of care
- Basing decisions on research and evidence
- Using information and information technology
- Monitoring quality and achieving positive outcomes
If you are part of an assessment program (such as Qmentum) with Accreditation Canada, NIAZ, IQG or IQMH, your assessment body will provide you with new assessment standards prior to those standards being incorporated into your program and used for surveys or assessment purposes.
